The Economically Backward Class Scholarship or EBC Scholarship is an initiative taken by the Maharashtra Government to help students belonging to the EBC category in the completion of their education.
The students are given free concessions up to 100% for UG, PG, and Diploma courses in Medical, Engineering, Agriculture, and other courses and for that matter, only the financially backward society can apply for the scholarship.

Eligibility for EBC Scholarship
The eligibility criteria for the EBC Scholarship are,
- Students must be from the Economically Backward Class (EBC).
- Students must have a domicile in Maharashtra.
- Students belonging to the Karnataka border can also apply.
- Students’ bank accounts must be linked to his/her Aadhar card.
- Students must not have applied for any other scholarship for the current year.
- Students must have enrolled in the Common Admission Process.
- For students coming from a family with an annual income of less than 2.5 lakhs, no minimum percentage criteria in the previous class is required to be fulfilled.
- For students coming from a family with an annual income of more than 2.5 lakhs and less than 8 lakhs, a minimum of 50% is required in the previous class.
EBC Scholarship amount
The amounts are as follows:
Female Hostelers | ₹1600 (₹160/month for 10 months) |
Female Day Scholars | ₹1000 (₹100/month for 10 months) |
Male Hostelers | ₹1400 (₹140/month for 10 months) |
Male Day Scholars | ₹800 (₹80/month for 10 months) |
Documents required to apply for the EBC Scholarship
The documents required to apply for the EBC Scholarship are,
- Domicile certificate
- Copy of Fee certificate
- Copy of Leaving certificate
- Declaration certificate (Undertaking of parents/guardians about the number of children/beneficiaries)
- Common Admission Process allotment letter
- Copy of bank passbook or canceled cheque
- All the previous mark sheets (from class 10 till the last exam appeared)
- Gap affidavit on stamp paper (in case of a gap in the previous year)
- Certified income certificate attested by Tahsildar
- Aadhar Card copy
- Attendance certificate
